Glock sights are very easy to do at home, and most gun shops will have someone to do it if you don’t want to yourself. I may eventually mill the G45 slide but for now the iron sights work just fine. The front is held in with a small screw that you’ll need a tool for (very cheap). I put the new rear sight in the same way. On the G19 I installed taller iron sights ($40) myself by putting the slide in a vice and tapping the rear sight out with a hammer and punch. The two Glocks I use most often are a Gen 5 19 MOS with a holosun 507c mounted with a C&H Precision plate, and a G45 non-MOS with the factory Ameriglo Bold sights.

Having the MOS system is nice because you can always upgrade to the latest and greatest optic since that technology is progressing pretty rapidly. Those red dot sights will also co-witness with standard height iron sights. Which would eliminate the mounting plates all together. Holosun is releasing new direct mount red dot sights for Glock MOS guns. I don’t think I want a fancy sight or anything, but night sights seem practical. Like I would like to save money on the initial purchase, but not so if I’m going to be making it a hassle to upgrade/customize down the road.

What options are there for this, or are all night sights third party? If I get the non-MOS version, is it a pain to install night sights if I want to, or is that something that would have to be milled on? My main question is, i see people referring to factory night sights, or sights installed from the get go so I don’t have to install them on my own. Initially I thought I would get the MOS version just to give me more flexibility down the line as most people say just get the gun and figure out sights down the line, but the more I read, the more I’m seeing to avoid MOS because the plates are garbage and I could always have something directly milled afterwards.
